Member Associations – Federation of Small Scale Mining Associations of Zambia (FSSMAZ)

Our National Network

The Federation of Small Scale Mining Associations of Zambia (FSSMAZ) derives its strength, legitimacy, and influence from a broad and committed national network of regional and thematic mining associations operating across the country. These member associations represent the true grassroots voice of small-scale miners, ensuring that local concerns, priorities, and opportunities are communicated and addressed at the national policy and decision-making levels.

Each association functions independently within its geographic region or specialized niche, responding to local mining conditions and community needs. However, through FSSMAZ, these associations are unified into a coordinated national movement that advocates for fair policies, responsible mining practices, and sustainable sector growth. This collective structure enables FSSMAZ to speak with authority on behalf of small-scale miners nationwide.

As the small-scale mining sector continues to expand, additional associations are joining the Federation, further strengthening national representation and coordination.

Why Regional Representation Matters

Regional representation is central to

FSSMAZ’s mandate and effectiveness. Through its member associations, the Federation is able to understand the diverse challenges, opportunities, and operational realities faced by miners in different provinces and mining environments. This localized insight informs national advocacy, policy engagement, and program design, ensuring that interventions are relevant and inclusive.
